Had this problem on my '08 Sedan. They had to replace the entire shift assembly. Wouldn't go into 'DS' or 'M' modes just as the OP posted...

Hey guys, my warranty has expired and now I have the same issue with the transmission not shifting into DS. Does anyone know what the AT Sensor is actually called ? because I cant seem to find a replacement online...

Thank you.

You would have to replace the complete shifter assembly.

Watch out on buying one on Ebay. I did last year for $60ish and the seller "said" they had never had a problem. A few months later the same problem happened...

tbh i don't think it's sold separetly so no part number for this $hit, you have to buy the whole assembly .. do like what i did, get a used one from Ebay and pick one from a donor or salvage car .. better than from a regular car, cuz u kno .. why wud someone take off his assembly from his normal car ? there must be something wrong with it

MOst people are saying to avoid buying a shifter assembly used, and to buy one new is ridiculously expensive, if it is in fact just a sensor, has anyone found out if it is possible to fix or replace the sensor that goes bad at the base of the shifter assembly?

^ this is true, if someone can pinpoint the sensor that would be great! I wonder if it is something soldered in though? But to be clear $100 for used vs $350 for new isnt a HUGE difference, but yes it is more

Same problem

Hey sorry for bringing this thread up again.. but I’ve run into the same problem, I recently bought a 08 g37s about 4-5 months ago, ever since I bought it I haven’t tried using the paddle shifters or sport mode, one day I decided to mess around with it, I tried shifting into sport mode, nothing popped up and it just stayed in D, i then tried pressing the paddle shifters, it works although isn’t very responsive and goes back to automatic shifting if I don’t shift past 3-4K rpm, I don’t know if that’s normal or not, this is my first g I’ve bought. As for the Ds mode I searched sround and found that I have to take apart the center console and look at the sport mode contacts, I did that and they look Like the contacts are clicking fine in my opinion. Does anyone know any other solution other than replacing the shift assembly?
