are the engine codes the same? how the does nismo Z make 20 more hp? i looked at the engine specs. bore/stroke/compression is the same. is it all in the tuning? or does the Z have better exhaust and intake on it stock?

it's ECU tuning and b/c the exhaust pipes are shorter. same engine and intakes.

The brochure just states free flowing dual exhaust and a different H pipe configuration.

Sounds like the only difference is the exhaust system.

It's not, talk to anyone who knows Zs/Gs and they'll tell you the ECU tune is different.

The cars they are sitting in. Other than the plumbing....exhaust, minor air intake/box differences due to engine bay
differences and ECU, the "engines" are identical.

OK... So to get there what does it take?

- Intake
- Exhaust
- ECU Re-Tune?

Can't be much more than that right? If the engine is the same.

The problem is that the 'flashers' and 'tunes' out there are not able to adjust timing, lift, and duration. That is where the difference on the Nismo 370z really comes in.

Intake/exhaust/tune will not get you the Nismo's powerband; if you have the same peak power, you will actually have a superior powerband. The Nismo's strength is the (more) linear gain in power. You'll notice that the Nismo tends to keep gaining power as you rev, as opposed to the G37 which plateaus in power from roughly 6k to redline.

the stillen gen 3 intake has greatly helped my "plateau" issues. now, instead of leveling out, the power keeps climbing all the way to redline...

before the intake, you could def feel the power level off too early. i was pleasantly surprised with my results from intake alone.
