Dead in driveway.. parking lights "on", stalk in auto...
Wife came home a few hrs ago, just went out & said the car's parking lights are on & it won't start..
Checked the light stalk switch and its in Auto...
Went to charge it & after a few minutes the parking lights went off, and the battery is now charging..
Will arrange for a service appt..
Anyone have any ideas other than a short possibly?
Had the car 1 month, 800 miles..
Why would the parking (front & rear) be on with the switch in Auto?
The fog light switch is in the "on" position, but they only come on when the lights are on...
Any ideas or similar encounters?
Thanks.

I also notice that there's no atuo off for the headlights unless the auto function is on. In other words, if like me, you like to drive in the daytime with lights on (for safety) and forget to turn them off when you get out, they will stay on until the battery drains. That's crazy. Even cheapo cars have automatic lights out after a few minutes.

^+1. Also the warning chime comes on to tell you that the lights are on when you shut the car off.
But to the OP, there still seems to be a problem. If the stalk was on AUTO when the car was shut off then the parking lights should have turned off. The only way only the parking lights should ever remain on after the car is shut off is if you move the light switch to OFF then back to Parking, i.e. the auto shutoff doesn't work after the car is OFF and you turn the lights on. But since you said it was in AUTO that doesn't seem right.

Bingo, that's my bet. I learned this the hard way with my second
Infinity (first one with button/fob system) . The G does the same
thing. If you're in a hurry or sloppy about pushing the on/off button
and insuring your foot is on the brake hard enough to activate
the system, it's easy to assume you've turned all electircal off
and all you've done is turn the engine off......you walk away
and the battery discharges.
This isn't always the case, but alot of the "battery problems"
I've seen posted here are actually user error from folks who
don't take the time to put their foot on the brake and push
the button simultaneously long enough.
