Clutch question

I just picked up a '08 G37S 6MT w/ 18,400 miles on it. I'm a bit concerned about this clutch, it's very different from my last car. (2006 A4) The engage point is much higher, plus I'm still getting use to it. Majority of the time I get from stop to go under 1,200 rpm w/o riding it out.

My question is, how reliable are these clutches? On the A4 I had to get the clutch replaced @ 45,000 miles. I drive city mostly, so stop & go is a big factor in my daily driving. I don't want to burn this guy out quickly.

I've been reading that their has been cases where these can burn out very quicky, or last a lifetime. Just curious, any help is appreciated.

from my experience, the clutch is VERY strong for an OEM clutch. unless you are dropping it all over the place then you should be totally fine. it definitely is the most "different" M/T car i've ever driven, working the clutch takes a bit of getting used to.

congrats on the new G and welcome to the forum

The high engagement point is going to take getting used to. The clutches in these cars are very solid. If you are replacing it after 45K in the G, its your driving style and not the clutch. I'm over 52K and will get at least that much more out of it for sure.
