Anyone knows that chatter is always present when swapping to a single mass FW from a dual mass FW. Its a given. Like I sd to someone the other day, if you hear that sound....someones got some mods in their Sheit.

I could get some videos in the next couple days. I've learned that if you up the idle to about 850rpms a lot of the chatter diminishes, so it actually sounds like a stock flywheel.

I paid $375 installed which was 5 hours of labor.

Sorry guys, I don't mean to thread jack. I just had the clutch and flywheel installed last week. I like it a lot, but it isn't for the faint of heart. The reason why I say this is because the clutch chatter is a lot LOUDER then with the normal dual-mass flywheel. I do feel a lot more acceleration, but I haven't gotten on it much since I'm still within the 500 mile break-in. I can tell you that 2nd gear now feels like first, and 3rd gear feels like 2nd. If the audible clutch chatter doesn't bother you, it's a great install and you do feel the difference between a 26lb and a 15.5lb flywheel.
So check this out..I do my JWT clutch combo a few months ago, & noticed the chatter..Now, I know when they did the job they didn't change the throw out bearing..partially my fault for not bringing it with me & I couldn't get one from the dealer on such short notice. They already had the trani out!!! But, my mechanic said it looked good & since it didn't have a lot of miles on it, it was still okay!!Well the noise was driving me nuts, so I said F*** it, I'll spend another $400 in labor & I'll buy the throw out bearing & change it, cause it was just too loud!! The car sounded great on the ride home, but 2 days later when I jumped in, the F****** chatter is back!!!!!!! I also noticed like the young man who started this thread, that when you rev slighlty, between 850-950rpm, it quiets right down, or when you push the clutch in!!! Well, I can't push the clutch in all the time, it's not good for it. Does anyone know why when you rev it, it goes away???? It makes the car sound cheap or like there is something wrong with it!!! So, unless one of you very capable G37 owners or techs find something out, eventually I would have to go back to a stock clutch. The chatter is horrible!!!
p.s. I'm not real happy with JWT, because they have to try these things before they sell them!! That's what R&D is for!! They should at least mention that your new clutch combo may sound a little louder(sounds like s***). I'm sure you all work hard for your money as do I & don't like spending on products that don't perform properly on our cars!!!
