Braille Battery and effortless cranking
Braille Battery and effortless cranking
Just installed a Braille 3121 that I got on Amazon.com for $180
The battery itself feels about half the weight of the OEM and take less than half the space. Engine starts very easily now and the car weighs about 20lb lighter now!
The terminals line up perfectly and the installation needs minimal modifications.
The only modification needed is the addition of a some washers (comes with battery) under the brace-nuts to keep the nuts on the threaded portion of the clamping rod (Since the Braille is shorter than OEM Battery). Battery is significantly lighter so it does not take too much to hold it in place.
tip: you can change the Cabin filter while you're at it too
tip: you'll need to perform a window reset function after disconnecting battery

yeah whats the purpose ? just lighter? or is it more powerful than the stock? Im all for space savings and weight reduction but wouldnt want to sacrifice cranking power or capacity.\

looked up replacement batteries for the car, and they have 640-650 CCA so this is acutally a downgrade but saves weight.
the M series replacments have 750CCA just so you know.. some people are reporting issues with their batteries dying on them , so i wouldnt go lower than stock if you run accessories.

In CA that shouldn't make a huge difference at all, but it's a good quality battery with great weight savings directly above a wheel.
Does anyone know really what the lowest PCA/CA/CCA you should go on the g37? The stock battery has a CA of 580 (I think, can't really find any info on it), so Braille has a 17lb battery that has 641 CA and 475 CCA, would that be too low for a semi daily driver? I really have only been driving on weekends. Or would it be best just to get the 18lb or 21lb battery?
I just bought an Optima Red Top for my 08 G35 Sedan because my OEM battery seemed to be dying on me. It works great and my car definately starts up better. It seemed lighter, not sure by how much, and it takes up less space. Might be something to consider.
