Looks like Infiniti is taking care of you!!
Actually just the opposite has been my experience.

Well it usually depends on your definition of "clutch in" and "clutch out". The clutch is in when the pedal is up....when the pedal is down, the clutch is out.

So it depends on how you define clutch "in/out" - as the pedal, or the rotating friction plate setup

I just had my 6MT tranny replaced two weeks ago for same issue. Throwout bearing or tranny made a whirring/rumbling noise while sitting in in neutral with the clutch pedal up - and I had that whining supercharger noise 1st through 3rd gear when driving.

After originally being told by the dealer that they all sound like that, so I found two other '08s for sale and took them for a ride - they didn't sound anything like mine. So I went back to the dealer and insisted a Tech go for a ride with me - a half block down the road and he was agreed that there was something wrong and they took it in that day for tranny & t/o bearing.

Clutch pedal feel (or the lack of) still sucks and still have the jerky 1st/2nd shift, but overall it's much quieter and shifts better.

On the clutch pedal feel, i saw something about an easy mod on the clutch pedal. There's a spring you can remove evidently that

Did you buy yours new? Do you know if yours is an early off-the-line model? It sounds like Infiniti has a bit of an issue with these trannies...

I have an 08 6mt, Got the same whirl noise only on cold startup. Once the unit is upto temp the noise is gone.. Dealership also took a drive with me is replacing tranny, while its down I am replacing stock clutch with Jim Wolf Unit.

Hmm...I wonder if they consider the clutch part of the tranny...if I'd be getting a new one...

So I got it back on Monday and everything seems fine...

My dealership acts really weird. I saw something about installing a Y pipe and exhaust from stillen on my work order and i was like...wtf is this? I didn't know if there was an aftermarket part on the car and they were like, no, we were going to install one, but then decided not to. And i was like wait, you were going to install an aftermarket exhaust on my car without my knowledge?! (Not that i'd mind free parts :-D)

Also, i had to sign the document stating what was fixed...and then they wouldn't give me a copy of the document for my records! WTF is up with that?! how can they make me sign something and then not give me a copy?

They also didn't get my key fob in, the illuminated kick plates the sales person said i'd get were not in the car ( they weren't installing them - just giving me free parts ).

They also screwed with my financing a little bit I discovered - i asked to be put through a specific bank and they sent my loan to JP Morgan Chase (Who I despise!).

I'm having a really hard time enjoying my experience with this car...

That smells like BS to me! No copy of signed document? Call Infiniti and file a complaint!

Just adding another member to the list.

My transmission was replaced at 32k miles before i bought the car used. The pre-sale inspection noted a whining/grinding noise from transmission.

They also replaced the muffler due to an exhaust rattle.

Exactly how mine sounds and I've had a new transmission put in under warranty. I'm told that whirring noise is normal and just the nature of the transmission of these cars. Aftermarket clutches are only louder.

On a side note, I may need another transmission. When I drive it hard, it gets really loud, much much louder than that normal whirring sound and it comes and goes. I'm not sure what thats about.

Same issue here

I also had a whining noise from 1st-4th gear that would pitch up if I just slightly touch the gas pedal to keep the car going (and while reving it almost sounded like I had a SC).I took it to the delearship and they said it was the throw out bearing. I took it in for service to get this replaced under warranty and they called me saying they had to replace the tranny cause I had a slightly bent input/output shaft or something like that. Anyway I got a new tranny and it stopped doing the chattering noise, the whining noise and now it shifts really smooth!!! Before I had a hard time trying to get into 2nd gear. I hope this helps. It seems like you have the same conditions I had.
Ive bought and had my 08 G37S Coupe for 2 years now, the previous owner insisted on the rattling noise being the “aftermarket lightweight flywheel” that he had previously installed. However after talking to a Infiniti dealer in Tustin, I was told that the repair on either the Throw out bearing or flywheel/clutch might possibly end up costing somewhere around 3k. Even the clerk that was telling the their prices agreed with how outrageous they’re charging. Working on a daily was never the goal but it seems that’s the only way left. Where’s a good mechanic when I need one.

did the problem end up getting fixed just with the clutch being replaced?

FWIW, my clutch/FW/hydraulics replacement was about $1400 in labor. Just shy of 3K including parts - there's a breakdown on my build thread. So that 3k seems normal.
