I can't speak for all states but I recently had my 04 Z smogged in AZ. They didn't even bother using the sniffer nor did they pop the hood. I paid them 30 bucks, they plugged in the OBD2 connector for less than 30 seconds, unplugged it and said you passed.

I asked the guy since I was amazed at how lax it was if I were to put a turbo on the car would it make a difference. His answer was, as long as it doesn't throw a code the car still passes.

Same thing with MD, they only check for codes. They don't use the sniffer.

I got use to it pretty fast. It's worse because the weather is cold so your fuel mixtures change slightly. I kind of like the smell, it reminds you of the old muscle cars. At idle you can definitely smell it.

Do you notice a difference between the TP and HFCs?

My @$$ dyno feels a tad bit more torque, but I can feel it in the top end more. I'm putting the Gen 3 intakes on Tuesday and the cars getting custom tuned Thursday, so we'll see what it puts down then.

No, they've since have been taken off. I have a local pending sale on them, but I'm willing to take $375 shipped now because he can't come up with the funds for the next 2 weeks.

It changes the tone of the exhaust and smooths it out a little bit. I didn't prefer it, but I'm sure others would. There wasn't any rasp which was a plus and I know there's gains to be made with the headers with a custom tune.
