Any updates OP?? I'm seriously thinking about doing this mod in my G. I changed the rearend gear in my S13, and picked up noticeable torque and about 2 tenths in the quarter mile. Cmon Op, lets hear it!

Honestly, doesn't look like any progress on this.. Blame it on the economy?

Oh god, 4.08 gears? That's like 4,000 rpms in 6th going 65mph! I couldn't do it, i just couldn't!

I do know for a fact it'll cut down on 0-60mph and 1/4 mile times drastically. BMW seems to put crazy gear ratios in their transmissions from the factory.

I wouldn't do forced induction and gears. The whole reason to do gears is to get the car up in the power range sooner. With a supercharger there should be more power available sooner. Unless the supercharger is absolutely worthless below 4000-4500 rpm, gears will just be taking away your available rpm (power band).

Gears sound like a great idea to me with a n/a high reving engine. F/I... I guess there are too many unknowns right now.

Gears and superchargers are a bit more common as most of the guys in the 350/G35's had a 3.93 gear with Vortech combo. All it really does is get you up into the meat of the superchargers powerband quicker.

Now gears on a turbocharged application, wouldn't touch that spinfest.

True but no one has done a sc on this plateform yet so we don't really know where the powerband is. And 4.08's are another step up from 3.93's.

Very true as well. But the 3.93 gears were a huge jump over the 3.55's in DE Z and G. About the same difference as the 3.7 gears are to the 4.08's on our cars.

As well the Z and the G's power band was very tight due as well to their max revs running up to around 6800rpm where we have much more to wind it out.

I guess it all is really going to depend on the Trim of Vortech they decide to go with as well to really know where it's going to go.

Still this mod by itself would be huge for N/A and if it is later found that this mod isn't so great with the supercharger, I'm sure it will be easy to sell the pumpkin off for money+another pumpkin.
