GT Motorsports: GTM Turn-Key G37 Twin Turbo, GTM Resonated TP, A/T, 481rwhp/413r
Fvk.....this is exactly why I stopped coming to this site...I couldnt handle this ****...now I get back on after like a year and I see this...the itch is back again...beautiful car btw, congrats!
I am really thinking about getting this I'm deployed now but get back in 4 months what do any of you really recomend this one over another one....also if no one has said this yet why such low psi evos can run 20 and up
It all depends on the tune and how its built but I think the stock psi on an evo 9 is somewhere around 15-20. Anyway keep in mind the evo's motor has been tested (and blown) for years. the new vq has not. And about $11,000 into an evo will go much further than it would into a g37.
The EVO engine is old technology, also the reason it can handle so much boost is because it is a cast iron block, made to take high boost.
20 PSI on this engine will make around 1000rwhp, it would take an EVO 40PSI.

ya comparing 2 different engines is a joke. the evo is built for f/i so runs lower compression but we have n/a engines with higher compression. means less boost for us makes more results but thats also because of larger engine, turbo design, etc.
If we were looking to push the boost up to 14psi, what would you recommend changing in the motor so it could hold up to that much boost? And, approximately how much would that cost if you were to do the install at the same time at the turbo kit?
This has been at the top of the list of my mods for a while. Just need to convince the little lady that this isn't going to void the warranty....wink wink

look on GTmotorsports' website. but dont look too long or you will be stuck there for like 3 hours!!!! lol they have all their pricing on packages
Since I'd really only be going for 450hp max and the VQVHR has a low end torque deficit would I be correct to assume that the slightly smaller compressor wheel of the stage 1 turbo would potentially have a lower spool time and perhaps greater potential for low end torque at the expense of a slightly more extreme top end?
Or would spool time be indistinguishable? Is there any really difference between an aggressively tuned stage 1 and a conservative stage 2?
I honestly think that much more than 500 is overkill but that's just my opinion, I really just wish the G had better take off from a standstill.
I have only my experience and the car feels normal (i.e. same before turbo) up to about 3500 rpm. After that, a smooth and strong increase in power to redline. The car pulls hard like second gear all the way into 6th.
Getting off the line doesn't feel any different than stock, but I'm also being sure not to kill my stock clutch. I will say that a hard 1-2 shift will smoke the tiresright through second and the 2-3 shift will produce a nice bark from the tires without much effort.
