Quick Question

this is how i drive when i go crazy

but i heard if you shift gear at specific RPM your car pulls more than shifting right before redline
how'd i do?

You only shift at an RPM below the redline if, after getting a dyno done, the tradeoff for the advantage of gearing loses out to a fatter torque band that can be achieved at the sub-redline RPMs.


In summary, given that this is a G37 without any substantial modifications, you want to shift at the highest RPM as possible since the engine produces such a flat, sustained torque amount all the way to the red line.

You want to shift at whatever RPM that allows the RPM to fall to the proper RPM to be at the torque peak in the next gear. That is almost always somewhat below redline.
