Gt-R engine in G37 coupe?

Possible? I came across a salvaged Gt-R and they are parting out the engine. The price is rediculious, but what is the likely hood of making it into a successful swap?

I believe the mid-ship would have something to do with the swap, also i don't think you can mount the tranny right behind it, since the GT-R's tranny is at the rear of the car (under the rear seats). No go.

I have not heard anyone do this yet but really you can make anything work if you have the money and the time to do it.

Yeah, according to that link it says that the GT-R is a PM (Premium Midship) platform, while ours is a FM (Front Midship) platform.. so they seem to be significantly different.

The time and money invested will make the cost of the G37 well over 60-70k if not more, and it still won't be a good "clean" job.

Might as well put the extra few thousand and grab a real GT-R. The idea is sweet though for like a show car.

Yeah Mike, I would have gotten a GT-R , but I don't like how it looks. For some reason when I see the front it makes me cringe. everything else looks good.

But how bad *** would it sound to have a G37 with a gtr motor?

yeah i hear you. I find that the GT-R looks awesome in pictures and stuff, but in person its "bulky". That and the fact that it only comes in the dual clutch auto, it doesn't really appeal to me. At that price range, i would more likely pick a different car.

GT-R motor + G37 = sex.

It would be much more cheaper to just twin turbo the current G37 engine as it'll basically yield similar power output to the GTR's engine.

What was the price of the GT-R engine? Could be fun to try to jam in into a old 240

Aren't the GT-R transmissions like over $20k? I would assume a new GT-R engine would be more than that. 5k is reasonable though i guess for a salvaged engine.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would buy the engine anyway.. You can always buy it and make an attempt to hire some custom modificators to see if they can custom build it into the engine bay of the G37 and replace the VQ37. If you buy it and don't want it you can always resell it... You can also add a 6 speed tranny for it
