91 fuel is REQUIRED for the VQ37VHR. 93 fuel is Recommended; you WILL get more performance out of the engine. This is similar to the Evo, STI, vettes, s2000, etc. However, on the VQ, the gain won't be as signifcant as the FI cars mentioned.

Actually in my 09 manual it does say:
"Nissan recommends Genuine Nissan ester engine oil......"

Point taken...I just don't understand how some people can live w/o thinking at ALL.

Best Regards,

Do you know where this was? I just flipped through a 09 manual and didn't see it.

Thanks for your efforts Mike.

It says:
*11: NISSAN recommends Genuine NISSAN Ester Engine Oil available at your NISSAN dealer.

It's on page 394 once I open Adobe or if I look at the bottom of the page it says
Technical and consumer information
9-3

Hope it helps...It does say that, think it's something new for 09.

Silly question, but have you ever seen a place selling 93 octane in socal?

Also, if you guys had to choose between a non-synthetic Ester oil and a synthetic non-Ester oil for the G37, which would you pick?

I'd go with a non-synthetic with Ester additive for you. For me, I'd go with Motul 300V or 8100.

And yes, I've seen 93 for sale (and higher). We sell it here at the dealership and so does the 76 down the street from us.

Well at least the manual says it is recommended and not required. Therefore, they cannot void your warranty for not using it.

I'll probably go with Eneos 5w30 and try to get the best of both worlds. But then again, if I'm lazy, I'll probably just get the nissan oil at your place haha. We'll see.

Oh cool, how much does a gallon go for at ur place and that 76? I've been to that 76 before, but i was filling up my accord...guess i didn't notice they had 93...

Pricing changes depending on market conditions.... 93 is a mix with 100 octane, and 100 octane is ~7-8 bucks a gallon right now.

Oh, and 300V is FTMFW.
