Is this a trick question?

Or, do you mean does anyone know more about it than has already been posted in a half dozen threads here?

P.S. If you're going to search, also search "easter" as there's a misspelled post at the bottom of this page.

I had a lil engine knock, so they did and ester oil change and it fixed the problem (or atleast masked it)

The Ester Oil with a computer reflash is supposed to remove a slight engine knock, vaguely similar to a diesel sound. But recently I have Ez-lube change the oil with Mobil 1 synthetic, and I haven't heard the knocking. But my oil was just changed on Saturday so some Ester could still be in the system.

I just had the 7,500 mile service last saturday from the dealer. I used the regular oil that they have, not the ester one. So far there is no knocking noise and its quiet. If it does knock, then all i have to do is bring it back to them and change to ester. Simple as that.

I did the same too (7500 mile service at around 8000 miles)... went to a Canadian dealership. They used the OEM 'regular' dino oil ... didn't charge me an arm and a leg for the 'ester' oil. No knocking with my car's engine (knock on wood ...)

I'll probably switch to synthetic once I pass 20,000 miles.
