Would it be possible to get a second ECU and then swap out the original ECU before track days?

This way in the event of any issues, no hard driving data would be logged.

Is this even possible?

Could the data potentially be logged somewhere other than the ECU?

Have any other solutions to this issue been found? (Aside from just coming clean and cover all costs out of pocket)
