HTown -

Two things. First, how certain are you that the gas you're using actually doesn't contain ethanol? All unleaded motor fuel in Houston is required to have it.

Secondly, your better mileage is very likely the result of driving habits rather than the fuel you're using. I often get 26+ MPG highway and I only use fuel with ethanol.

1st. I'm not sure if the gas does not but aren't there laws about posting notifications as well? Maybe it does have Ethanol

2nd. This one is for sure; my driving habits are the same and I can get 26+ also when easing down the freeway, but most days I'm what you may call a "spirited driver" and I do shave time on my commute by cheating. Another thing; I do enjoy my commute, some days it's all the fun I get until the weekend so I normally get around 20-22MPG.

3rd. I do see a variable now... It's much cooler here since I've done test 1 so that helps MPGs also. Whatever it may be; I will keep buying fuel there if I can get 450-500 Miles to a tank during the weekly commute. The range is much better for whatever reason so why not.

4th. Just wanted to share and not here to defend anything or convince anyone... I've been a premier member of g35driver since Jan 05, so even though these are my first posts here on the G37 side, I'm no rookie; I know the drill.

Unfortunately it's either 10% everywhere around your area or not at all. Has anyone experienced an SES after using ethanol for several months?

Ive used ethanol blended gas for 1 year (32K miles) with absolutely no problems or SES.

Yeah HTown I live in Houston too and my mileage has gotten better since the weather cooled down as well. I think its mainly the colder air making our engines more efficient. Why don't you try the ethanol gas one more time and see how your mileage turns out then?

These cars will actually run E85 safely as well (the fuel system is setup for it, minus the Ethanol measure meter/switch in the tank). BUT, to get the best advantage out of it, you need to retune the ECM to run a stoich value of 9.6:1, and a PE value of 8.2:1 to get the best mileage and performance/longevity out of it.

Why would one do this? Performance reasons only, can crank up the timing
