Lurching in first gear??

This might be normal but I have the 5AT G37 and I find sometimes when I roll away from a stop in first and apply gas a little more aggressively, not to the floor, that the car lurches a little. Now I have definitely experienced this phenomenon in a 6-speed before, sort of like when you haven't fully disengaged the clutch and you give the car the gas at a low rpm, first gear will make the car lurch a couple times before smooth acceleration ensues in the higher rpm, just never felt it in an AT before. Anyone else experience this?? I suppose it's possible in AT as well, they both use similar gear ratios. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

i have it too. i assumed it was normal for a high HP, aggressively geared AT. 6sp is a given.

its happened to me a few times as well. asked the dealer about it and they said the ecu showed nothing of the sort ever happening. basically they said i was lying or making up some non-issue.

its probably how the stock drive by wire system is designed.

https://www.myg37.com/forums/supporting-vendors/183862-blitz-throttle-controller-for-g37-available-now-from-amplified-motorsport.html
look at this picture on the blitz throttle controller, and focus on the little graph.

it kind of has a surge of throttle response, maybe thats what your experiencing?

i could be wrong.

Hey, thanks for your posts. Sometimes its just good to know other people experience the same thing, makes it seem more "normal". I also assumed it was high HP and aggressive gearing, plus I guess I won't bother bringing it up to the dealer!!

Sounds like you're not braking but could it be related to this issue that has a TSB.

I've got a 6MT and experience the same thing. 1st gear is most noticeable. When I am gradually accelerating, the car will surge forward a couple of times. Almost like the old variable cam timing that kicked in at 5000 rpms, but this happens in multiple steps. It's just a sudden surge in power that happens a couple times during mild to moderate acceleration. Not really sure that this should be considered normal.
