First Gear whine 7a/t

2010 G37x Sedan, 55k miles. Service record shows trans and front/rear diff drain/fills about 3k miles ago before I bought it.

Didn't really hear it when I bought it.

Is this a Tranny or the power-steering pump issue? Maybe it's normal and I'm just getting attuned to the noises. Can only hear it in first gear.

Please listen and let me know what you think.

After the is warmed up, but while stationary, turn the wheel one way or another. If you hear a whine, it's the power steering. If you hear nothing then it's driveline related most likely.

Yea, there's nothing when turning the wheel back and forth. Nothing to do but let it go for a couple k miles and see how it goes. I've got warranty until 70k/6 years, so next June.

I have had the same problem for a while, never really paid any attention to it but my car runs great and I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Interesting, did you note how many miles you had when it started? How many miles do you have now?

The tranny and all diffs had a recent drain/fill. Has yours been drained/filled?

I bought my car at about 15,000 km and now I have about 65,000. Since then I have just been changing oil and filters. Zero problems, I honestly think it's just the nature of the timing belt. But I could be wrong!

sounds normal to me, of course..anyone with an aftermarket or true 'sport' exhaust could probably not hear that slight whine anyway (like myself).

might want to check that rear differential bushing could be going out. you can get drive line noise from that
