question about downshifting with paddles

So this is my 3rd AT from Infin but first with DS mode.

So today after I finally crossed the 1200 mark I started to have some fun and was cruising about 80 mph in 4th and paddle shifted to third. Almost instantaneously I was in the gear and the revs bumped up and a major surge of power took me forward. I mean this can't be real. So I assumed I effed up the car.

When I drove true manual cars for most of my life and wanted to do a downshift at high speed I would rev match to preserve the tranny and make the shift smooth.

Is this what the g is doing almost immediately?? Incredible if true.

If you were going 80 and dropped it to third, you should expect a lunch of power as the RPMs probably went to the 6000 range.

What happened is completely normal. That's what I love about the paddles.

I let the car downshift from 2 to 1 by itself as that switch is a bit sensitive, but no harm would be done unless you go down to like 2 or 1 on a freeway.
