Should I feel depressed with my 5AT 08 G37S

Ok I've had my 08 G37S 5AT for a year now (actually today is the 1 year anniversary!)

I love it. (Platinum Silver). But I was very annoyed to see that the 09 will have a 7AT tranny.

I guess I want someone to say (with some credibility) that really the 7AT is not that big a deal since I am happy with my 5AT.

What is the big advantage? If its gas mileage I could care less since I obviously didn't care enough about that issue to buy a Toyota Prius....

If its performance then I DO care about that...though I do not go to the track or go on long distance hauls frequently. I do enjoy "spirited" driving (with radar detector on...)

I am very happy with my car and plan to keep it for as long as I can find gas....

Any thoughts or comments?

The average AT driver wouldn't "feel" the difference.

I have auto as well and them coming out with 5AT doesn't bother me in the least bit.

I could care less about the 7AT. My 5 works just fine.

7at would be cool but it would probably have problems just because this is infiniti first 7at.

I agree with what others mentioned but I want to add something.

Do you use the manual shift mode often? If you do, then image how many times you have to upshift or downshift to get the car moving!!

So 5AT would still be my choice!

not a big deal unless you do a lot of freeway driving and want the extra MPGs..

Don't worry about it. On the performance side, there will be minimal if any difference. The 7speed auto will help with the gas mpg, it will lower the rpm's on the freeway etc.

The 5speed is just fine.

(also, there will always be improvements on everything, its the way of advanced technology, it will keep rolling out) etc.

Enjoy your ride,

smoother shifting, better mpg since since ur on the lower rpm range with more gears, and just plain pimp status with the 7 gears.

i'll stick with the manual transmission though. maybe if i get a van or an suv i'll get an auto. haha

more downshifting to get to the right gears (example 3rd gear) need to downshift 4 gears, while 5AT only 2 gears. By the time 7AT gets in gear, u should be gone.

IMO, they are only trying to give the car better gas mileage with all the stuff going on with gas prices. Because I do alot of freeway driving, it would be nice to squeeze a few more mpg's out of it. However, the reason I got the car was to do radical driving in the hills of WV. It's an awesome experience to do that and I use the shifter ALOT!!! So, I would rather have the 5AT.

I would only care if it was a dual clutch like in my GTI.
