yeah, i get what you are saying. im talking about people shifting without using the clutch.

i thought the syncros were made of brass. kind of in the middle of copper and steel in terms of yield strength. they should be able to withstand a lot of abuse and last longer than the tranny itself.

Not 100% certain about the material but I'm pretty sure it isn't brass. I read and article on the Nissan performance magazine website which explained that over the 10+ revisions made to the 350z/G35 transmissions units produced between 03' and early 04' were prone to synchro issues due to a softer metal being used.
