I meant the time it takes from the moment the shift is initiated until the shift is complete. for example: from the time that the paddle is tapped until the next gear is engaged.

How does the 7at work, is it 5 drive gears and two OD gears?

Yup. Knowing Infiniti, most likely they'll use the same 7AT in the new FX so the overdrive gears are 0.86 and 0.77 for 6th and 7th gear respectively.

Again, don't think that is correct. The FX cruises 60mph @ 1960rpm...... Same 7AT the coupe will have.....

Yeah, thats normal. I cruise a little bit more than 3K rpm when I'm at 80. I wish it would have been in the low 2's range, oh well....

but does it have the same final drive ratio? That can make significant differences to cruising rpm.

7sp in FX

FX35 with 7sp gained 1mpg in city and highway while the engine gains 28hp. FX50 with 7sp gained 1mpg in city and 3mpg in highway over FX45 while the engine gains 70hp. So the 7sp helps V8 in FX50 more even with more powerful engine.

They won't change the engine for 2009 G37 coupe. I'm hoping the 7sp will help gain about 2mpg. I'm guessing 19 in city and 26 in highway. That will put G37 over 335, IS350 and TL SH-AWD in terms of efficiency. What do you guys think?

I was just doing a simple math.

60pmh at 1960rpm or 32.66rpm per 1mph. So at 80mph it comes to around 2610rpm. I guess I was rounding up to 2700rpm
