would it be stupid to even specualte anything based on the work done on the vq35? are the 2 engines so disimilar that even after a major over haul on both engines the HR has so much more potential?

This company (GTM motorsports) here seems to have done a tremendous amount of R&D:
http://www.gtmotorsports.com/product...9&cat=0&page=1

maybe they would know. Looks like they have a 4.2 L stroker long block "rated up to 700 wheel-horsepower and 8,000RPM"... now does this mean it can withstand that much power? or is that how much power it puts out?? wow...

I read in (I think) Import Tuner that Cosworth has a goal of 400 whp from a DE engine, but that's with all kinds of internal work done to it.

I'm pretty certain that with VVTL cams will never be available because servos are controlling the valves.

how fast do you want your car to be? haha BTW- There is a brand new GTR in the showroom over in Milford CT. Black on Black . EVIL LOOKING. It is a race car and really kick ***. My G37 is nice enough and fast enough for me. I'd might consider just an intake to open the engine up alittle more with sound but i bet it only puts on 5HP at most so I do it for sound. Exhaust is ANNOYING and every car ive had I got an exhaust on it and after awhile it just annoys me. DRONE SOUND KILLS. And I would be only gettin mabye 10HP at the MOST. So.. Intake is all for me. I Am MORE than happy with my G37S with 19IN wheels and 14IN brakes and 335HP. There are engineers who devote there time sna careers to making this car what it is. Just leave it alone and if its not fast enough. Buy the GTR.

A VQ35HR can do around 330whp with bolt ons, sans cams, and a fully tunable ecu. More displacement, better valvetrain, and a good tune, you could easily see more than 350whp.

Factory Units are made with compromises in mind. You can gain a good amount with Headers

Also the intake already looks pretty free-flowing, again not sure how much you can really get there either

JWT popchargers, and Injen CAI's are proven to make power

And a reflash can only do so much with OEM parts (usually advance the timing, and richen the fuel mixture) and can have some negative consequences.

Like what? Your ignorance is staggering.

So really to increase the power on a NA motor, you may need to bump the compression ratio (which takes changes to the internal parts). It has been my experience that modems cars come from the factory are pretty well optimized.
Completely false and incorrect.

i believe 323whp was posted by someone that had just gotten a tadashi reflash and had intake, headers and exhaust, maybe a few minor mods.

I was pretty close eh? and the ecu tune was custom, it was a reflash.

Right now, I have K&N drop-ins, HFCs, exhaust, and the reflash. I want to see someone with my set-up, but with JWT popchargers instead of drop-ins get a reflash to see what the gains would look like.
