i havent seen ANY engine reinforcements out for our car yet.
Great point. Greddy's turbo system for the G35/Z can only scratch the surface of its full potential on VQ's with stock internals, comp ratio, etc. So, basically, for those who are NOT planning to build the motor's internals, a supercharger would work out fine.

i think i'll be going the supercharger direction. i don't want to choose between changing out internals or blowing the engine. i think all i'm after is another 60-70 hp and maybe the same increase in torque. this should be enough to be faster than 95% of the cars on the road.

if this is a serious question, the supercharger driven by the drive belts to create boost. the turbo uses exhaust gasses to drive an impeller to make boost.

If it's tuned well and you keep the boost low on a turbo system, it should be fine. I had a turbo system on my old Celica, which had even higher compression ratio than the 37. I only ran about 7.5-8 lbs. of boost and it was my reliable daily-driver for years.

ok i am going to give you my 2 cents now as well.. turbo charger is the way to go if its one or two... the motor if you have done any reading about it has way better internals than the vq motors. better pistons thicker rods, better all around.. on the testing on the block from what i have read they have had it up to 560 ish whp and the motor was doing fine. the clutch is what was going out... so if your worried about the motor no need to, my car will be pushing high to mid 400whp and it will be a daily driver.. on stock internals..
they are expecting the program they need to rewrite my factor ecu and will be able to properly tune my car any day now. and i will post the numbers as soon as i get them, im very excited...
please feel free to let me know if i am wrong on any of this.. im sure yall will

Sounds cool. Can't wait to see your numbers! Our high 11.0:1 compression ratio will probably be the most significant limiting factor when figuring out how much boost this engine can handle reliably on a day to day basis on pump gas.

Hey fireboy, did the company you are going thru take a look at the internal of your motor after doing the TT test? Just to see if there was any major wear on the engine internals. I know someone asked the same thing about the GTM turbo kit but I don't think it was answered.

So fireboy, are they going to be taking your engine apart at all to take a look at the internals? I would think they would want to do this just to check pistons, gaskets, etc to make sure everything is holding up especially since it sounds like they will be putting +100HP extra to it.

um well that is up to them if they tear the engine down..if they feel the need to then they will... if they think something is wrong or its not holding up

Check out howstuffworks.com in the auto section to get an idea of how superchargers and turbochargers work.

Question for terrible1. I thought that one of the advantages of a twin Turbo over a turbo was there were little to no spool up time. Is that right or myth. Also, with the G35/350z how well did the TT kits hold up to excessive heat as that has always been a con to a turbo as it uses the hot exhaust fumes to drive the forced induction.

I'm not partial to either, but I would like a modest kit for my everyday driver. Maybe 100-120WRHP and TQ. The internals may be holding up for now, but what about after 20,000 miles in two years time of everyday normal driving?
