There is def something wrong i went in yesterday to infiniti bec after rough driving my car sounded like a deisel truck that same chuka chuka sound ... they said infiniti is aware of this prob but no fix yet, they said it could be something with the air in-take that there isnt getting enough air into the engine or something like that but NO FIX AS OF YET

If anyone else has information, please post it.
Well asking the dealer is like asking the fox to guard the hen house. My experience is that the dealer will say anything to get away with stuffs so that they don't have to fix anything.
Annoying Deisel-ing sound at idle w/ warmed engine
about 3 months after I leased my G37 coupe in August 2007 I noticed the infamous "deisling" sound from the engine at low rpms (idle speed, esp at trafic lights) when the car was driven hard or for a prolonged period in stop-and-go traffic (Chicago's Lake Shore Drive at 8am is notorious stop-and-go most of the year during rush hours). I took it back to the dealer in 2008 but they "couldn't reproduce" the problem. I tried to ignore for 2 years (it was a lease after all).
I finally got fed up last week and researched this forum. Lo and behold I wasn't alone. The other symptom was erratic tranny behavior when coming to a light (hard downshifting). I literally had to push it into nuetral sometimes when coming to a light so that the hard downshift wouldn't put me into the back of the car in front of me. Again, this gremlin (erratic tranny + deiseling sound) only manifested himself when driven hard or in prolonged (say 20-30+ mins) stop-and-go traffic.
Just got back from the dealer last night and had him do an oil change (no ester oil) and handle this ECU problem associated with the deiseling sound:

I will post back in a month or so on how it goes.
Just curious, do dealerships typically scan for TSBs that apply to your vehicle and contact you or do you need to do the homework yourself and "prove it" to them? I think it's bad customer service to have a known issue and not alert your customers.

dieseling at idle, and off-throttle or idle rpm surge
I had this coming down a mountain road slowly, at "idle" speed, in the 5AT. Restarted and it seemed to go away.
Experiencing any idle speed surges (RPM going up or taking too long to get back to 6-700 rpm after letting off throttle) as well?
When dealer reprogrammed ECM from software version 70 to version 86 about April 2009, both problems have not reappeared. Infiniti really should have done this to all coupes by now, as the chugging cannot be good for the engine, and the RPM surge is a real safety hazard...see that article on the G37 in Atlanta crashing thru Sears.

I hear that every here and there after hard driving, what do I do? Like how would I set it up with the dealer or what to say, I HATE DEALING with dealers haha. Fvck it I wonder if a ecu flash with uprev will go away
I have this exact same problem occassionally as well. I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE!! Unfortunately for those of you asking about the Cold Air Intake, it does not help. I have a Stillen Gen 3.
I noticed that during the "Dieseling" sound, when I come to a stop then proceed to drive again, my car has erratic tranny behavior. Almost like the clutch is not gripping properly. I don't know how else to explain it. The car is very jerky. If I turn the ignition off then back on, it's fine again.

I now use Motul X-Max 5w30 which is fully synthetic and ester based and haven't had any issues with it since I first started using it over 3 months ago. Also, it's cut down drastically on oil consumption which had me worrying that my car was burning oil.
I had the exact same issue - rough "diesel" noise after some aggressive driving. It started after about 3,000 miles driving on valvoline synthetic oil. Before that, I always used nissan's ester oil. Brought it to the dealer, he reprogrammed my car and changed it back to ester.
Long term update
Hi Guys,
Haven't been here in a while so I wanted to give you all an update on this issue. After further research it appears TSB ITB07-048 was my problem. This is well documented and the "fix" is to reprogram the ECM.
Dealer executed the TSB and problem disappeared for about 1 year. Problem came back this past August so I had dealer re-execute this TSB again. Problem seems to be gone again. I don't know if there is a permanent fix for this issue. I'm glad my lease on this vehicle is up in 3 months as I would not want to keep dealing with this dangerous problem anymore than I have to.
Best of luck to you all.

Hey, I wonder if this is the same thing I have been hearing since day one...I have a 08 G37 coupe and if I let it run and just sit maybe after a minute or so I get the "chucka" I guess. Sounds like a belt squeaking over and over...any idea how I can tell if it is what you all are hearing?
