Engine noise after aggressive driving

After a while of driving aggressively and then parking in the garage, I am noticing that the engine is making a noise while idling. The sound is kind of like a "chucka-chucka-chucka-chucka" coming from under the hood. This only happens after aggressive driving and the engine is hot while idling. Also, when it does this, if I turn off the engine and then restart, the noise goes away, like some kind of reset is taking place.

Anyone else experience this noise? Sound like anything to worry about?

If it is a ticking sound it could be a bomb so if you pissed anyone off you might need to worry.

Ya my other cars never had that chucka sound so I had questions at first but I guess it is normal on aluminum block.

The noise is not a "cooling down" type of noise; it is like the sound of valve action or a valve actuator movement while the engine is running. This is NOT the tinkling, creaking sound of metal expanding and shrinking after the engine is shut off.

i experience this too and i'm not worried at all. Sometimes if you dont let it warm up enough (when you've got cold weather) it happens too.. but i'm sure you already know not to push it hard when its cold :[

Wouldn't the fact that if he turns the car off and back on the sound goes away pretty much kill the "cooling down theory?" as the engine isn't much cooler than it was 5 seconds ago before the restart? Just thinking outloud.

But the valve system not returning to normal idle mode till you restart make a little more sense to me than just a cooling down thing.

I'd have no idea is that is indeed normal. I've noticed it on my car as well (just a little extra noise that isn't there normally), but doesn't seem to have any ill effects.

Well, it's definately a mechanical sounding noise that goes away after I shut off the engine and restart. I will ask the dealer about it the next time I'm there for service but wondered if anyone else has noticed it. Thanks.
