Well, I'm experancing the same problem again when the car is at a idle for about 5 - 15 minutes. This time they're are going to replace the actuator for the WVEL technolgy. I happen to be around the dealership when it started to do it again. I met the local Infiniti rep. today and he seemed to really not care about my problem. He said that it makes a little sound over the engine noise. I'm glad that he's not a tech. because I would be really alarmed about having someone with that attitude working on my new $40,000 car. The sound is not faint and has a nasty knocking sound to it. I'll keep you informed about this problem.

 

I'm interested in the sound you're hearing, could you post a sound clip so the rest of us can hear what you're hearing?

 

is your car a 6MT? and do you only get the sound when you release the clutch in neutral? if so i get the same noise... kinda sounds like s diesel as someone described it on the forums

 

Does your car make the sound when you first start it at all? I know this sound (and its not the mufflers as people will tell you). It's coming from the engine bay.

 

Mine doesnt do it when i first start it... but if it is warmed up... The sound will be there when the clutch is out sitting in neutral. it is actually quite loud

 

This has nothing to do with the OP's post. What youre hearing is a throwout bearing, and you will find the same noise amongst all G's and Z's. The sound the OP is talking about is an engine-related noise. Two completely different things.

 

I've noticed the throw out bearing noise as well. The sound I'm talking about is coming from the engine bay and and it makes a nasty knocking sound. The car is at the dealership right now so I can't post a audio clip of it and if this doesn't fix the problem I'll defently post it so you can all hear it and see if your car makes this noise.
