dumb but may be posible?
GTR engine in g37... I'm shocked why no one mentioned, that GTR engine is RAW power... and our current G's defiantly can't handle it... Items to possible change... engine mounts, ecu, drive shaft, tranny, axel's, etc.
EVERYTHING mechanical prob. has to be changed... Like one said, got money, its doable, but dang... I don't know, and just shooting a wild number, with a current GTR engine, and all the mods, custom fabrications, time... you might be looking over $50,000-$75,000 ??? (Wild guess)

ok lets look at what we know.
The engine in the GTR is the same engine in the g37 with a different bottom and beefed up crankshaft.
EMM shoud be the same or very close in design.
Gear ratios and differential in the g37 are appropriate for 420whp.
transition should also be a bolt on procedure, and keeping our trannys doesn't sound like a bad idea as long as we can cool it down.
One can always have 2 ECU's, one for engine management and one for electronics, etc
Once the gtr engine becomes available and there's more in depth knowledge on its architecture, i find it very plausible swapping engines as a mainstream mod for g37/z37 owners.
The GTR is not going to have near exotic production, so availability and pricing should come down fast in a few years.

Problem is dropping the GT-R motor into the G37 may get you close to the straight line performance of the GT-R, but that bad boy is a super-handling monster that will be difficult for a Franken-G to match without a lot more mods and weight loss. Sounds like a big project....doable yeah, but a lot of work.

Thanks for pointing that out.... but anyone that has a g37 (hopefully) did not buy it for track performance.... so does it really matters how close it comes to the GTR, 911, M3, etc? I don't think so.
Any performance mod done to this car is for people that just want a fast, responsive car in the straights... and maybe squeeze out a bit better handling capabilities. But mainly... to be able to hit the gas in the highway and leave the other cars in the dust.
My point is... if you have a g37 track car.... you picked the wrong car!

^^and hence, build the G37 motor to go fast and be a cheaper alternative to trying to drop the GT-R motor in there. If it grenades, just build another one which would probably still be cheaper than buying one GT-R motor.
If straight line speed is all we are after then twin turbo this thing.

sorry but i think your statment is wrong regarding if you want a good track car the g37 is not it. The G37 has great potential to be a good track car. Thats what i am doing with mine and I have plenty of experience building great track cars. I dont expect it to be a gtr or 911 for that matter on the track. but when i am done it will be more then able to handle most things thrown at it on the track.
you can argue this with me all day long if you want to... but the initial platform of the g37 is less than ideal for building a track car.
a) A g37 will make a ok track car... but the 350Z is the right platform.
b) BMW M6 will also make a ok track car... but the M3 is best suited.
c)Audi S6&S5 will also be decent... but of course RS4 is the right choice.
d)Cadillac XLR vs corvette Z06
Do you need more examples?
all i can say on that reply is...... Congrats on having plenty of money to throw away
