Question Paddle gear changes, How fast?

Just like the title says, is there any documentation on how fast the G37 with paddle shifting can do gear changes. I know that it isn't a true clutchless manual transmission, and that it is still an automatic transmission with a torque converter, but I am still curious to know how fast it does shift the gears, especially the upshifts. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

There is definitely a slight lag in both up and downshifts.

There is about a 1 second lag in shifting. I upshift a little before so my RPMs don't go too crazy. I hear they designed it this way so the car shifts more smoothly. Just wish there was an option to turn it off.

Yep, there is a lag on the upshift and the downshift gets a throttle-blip. The fastest accelleration for me is in DS mode with your foot in it.

there is a slight lag, as noted above, but the actual shift occurs very quickly. i'm man enough to admit that i could not match it in a manual tranny.

IMO, the lag is so miniscule that it doesn't affect performance in any way. My heart still belongs to a manual, however I really enjoy using the paddles.

^^ There seems to be some inconsistency from time to time. Sometimes it bangs hard into 3rd and shifts much faster than 1 second. And when it bangs, it hits hard. When it's trying to be smooth, tis about 1 second, but when it doesn't care then it's better than 1/2 second. I haven't determined its mad reasoning yet.

Also, if you time it just right, like if you down shift an step on the gas sometimes it hesitates for an extra second and then takes off like a rocket. I wonder if a grounding kit would smooth things out?

We definitely need a grounding kit.....Also, when you drive normally...does it sometimes take a noticeably hesitant shift, if you let of the pedal slowly right b4 its about to shift?

As long as its supposed to do that, Im ok with it....i guess its another one of those soft comfortable shift maneuvers.

Maybe....
But previously I owned a Honda Accord coupe V6 and when I added a grounding kit it really smoothed out the shifting of the transmission. I am hopeing for the same results here....

It does this mainly when you double down shift from 4 - 2 and sometimes from 3 - 2. However if you press the gas down farther, it will engage into gear a little quicker. If you don't intend to accelerate hard, just reduce the pedal pressure once you feel the gear is about to engage.

The grounding kit on my G35 made it a little quicker to shift. However the hesitation on the newer model is mainly due to the rev matching. In my 03 G35, it didn't have the rev matching feature so you got a hard shift from 4 - 2 unless you were on the gas (manually rev matching). So I am not sure how much the grounding kit will remedy this situation but it may be worth a shot. The grounding kit did smooth the engine a little in my 03 and it was said that the engine ran a little more efficiently from the grounding kits but that could be debatable.
