With the BMW 335 putting up darn impressive numbers , do you think Infiniti might consider changing it's mind on the coupe and offer a boosted engine -- even as an option?
Say, a severely detuned GT-R engine (rumored to be a VQ 3.0 TT)....
They will have the parts and should be able to drop it in relatively easily. Make it a bit cheaper and less powerful than when its in the GT-R of course, but it sure could make for for a 335 killer for comperable price. Given that the GT-R will be sold by Nissan, this could appease the Infiniti dealers a bit.
Not that I think it will happen, of course, but it sure is fun to think about.

Infiniti doesn't need FI to hold its own against BMW, MB, Audi or others.
On a side note, I remember seeing a quote from BMW saying that "Forced Induction is the cheap way to power." My how quickly they've forgot that.....

I would imagine Infiniti would want to stay ahead in the hp wars, so what would be the best way to do it?
Anyway, it just seems that turbos are coming back in fashion when the likes of BMW and Acura start to build them. It just make me wonder if (hope) Nissan will follow suit.

No. The development of the next gen engine is likely well under way now. It's possible they may try and tweak the planned set up some based on both their original goals and the new competition releases. However I think it is doubtful they will go as far as to offer FI.
I don't think it's worth the trade off. FI engines make too much heat which could cause more reliability issues. I'm not an engine expert but a properly ported/bored massaged engine can do the job. They just need to stick a massaged V8 in there, forget boosting.

I'm still holding out hope for DI. Every manufacturer is digging into this technology, and for some reason, Nissan doesn't seem to be biting. Could be cost, or weight (can't imagine the latter, but?). Honda, Mazda, Toyota, and Subaru are on board, along with all the Germans. Why the hold out.
VQ 3.7 with DI could be an absolute tractor, as well as a rocket. DI overcomes so many engine design compromises by providing absolute control over the fuel/air charge. It just makes too much sense.
I'll continue my vigil, candle lit and praying to the engine technology gods above
Cheers,
D

Your making me wonder what a 3.7 litter [2008] G35 coupe with Direct Injection could do!!!
