Retune needed? From single exit to dual exit exhaust

Hello everyone! This is my first post on this forum .

For some context, I am currently running my 2012 g37xs 7AT coupe uprev tuned with an isr single exit, test pipes and long tube intakes. The exhaust sounds deep and aggressive but the rasp and noise level is just too much for my taste. I would like to change it to an invidia gemini catback to make it more friendly, however Im already tuned for a 3inch single exit. Would I need to re-tune the car for the invidia given that its a dual exit with 2.35inch pipes or is the change minimal enough that I can get away with it?

Thank you guys in advance, I appreciate the help.

Welcome! I want to say no but that's a question for your tuner. You could get a resonator added to your existing single exit to knock out (at least some) of the rasp.

Welcome Eddy, like previously stated you are already at a single exit. It's easier and cheaper to quiet the single exit than it is to swap to duals.

Any restriction/increase of flow in the exhaust will require a re-tune to maximize the results on it but it is not necessary.

Do some research on what you have, you might be able to quiet it down simply.

Thanks for the reply, I thought about trying to quiet it down but the only option would be replacing the muffler. My setup is custom, it was installed by the previous owner and it is poorly made so I thought about just replacing the whole thing. Im just scared the engine will run weird with the change to duals.

I've ran single exit 3 inch on my car and on the same tune I ran a dual exit 2.5 inch exhaust. Now on the same tune I'm running dual 2.5 that transitions to dual 3 in pipes. The car will adjust itself over the course of 2 weeks as you drive it around.

No, you don't need a re-tune. You will be fine.

Don't worry about retuning if/when you switch exhaust. the difference isn't significant enough to cause any concern. I've swapped from dual 2.375" to dual 3.0" to single 3.5" all on the same tune.

Can you retune if you want, but I would suggest only retuning if you have other mods to readjust to save money, unless you're like my friend who retunes with every tuner just for hell of things. lol.

If you're remote tuned, and your tuner isn't going to charge you for the follow-up, then go right ahead, no harm no cost for peace of mind.

Otherwise, as said, it's probably not worth the effort and expense.
