Question about EcuTek tune and 93 octane

Question about EcuTek tune..

I had a tune done by Moncef.. and at the end these are the instructions:

Hold CANCEL button until tachometer needle points to "1". Then adjust the cruise control switch up or down, and the tachometer needle will point to the map number selected (1-4).

You can also download the ECU connect app to switch maps and monitor engine data.

Map1: 93 octane tune
Map2: 93 octane burbles - do a hard pull to high rpm and then let off gas pedal, as you are decelerating down; slowly roll your foot into the gas pedal. You can also rev the car up past 6000 while at a stop.
Map3: Economy Mode
Map4: Antitheft Mode
My question is: If I don't do the instructions above, and just turn the car on and drive, then its not running in 93 octane, right? The nearest 93 octane is a few cities over, so I want to see if running 91 like I always do is fine.. assuming I'm not "activating" the 93 octane tune with the instructions above?

Any help understanding this would be appreciated..

Wrong. The car will be running on the last map set.their is no no to pick a map every time you turn on the car.so if you go to map two meaning you hold down the cruise control and wait till the needle jumps and then set to two rpm ,then it will stay on that map till you change it no matter how many times to turn the car off and on.
My suggestion would be to set on economy mode when not running 93 as thier my not be that much timing on that map but that may be a question to ask your tuner. Not sure how he set it up .

Looks like the main maps are set to run 93 octane all the time

Maybe economy mode might be ok with 91 octane? I don't know what antitheft mode does to the car.

You should ask Moncef if economy mode is 91 or 93. I think it would make more sense for each map to be tuned for 93 octane, but if you're far from home and on empty and your only option is 91... I hear you. After pumping 91 octane for almost 10 years into this car. I have to force myself to choose 93 now, and I fear some day soon I'll just not be paying attention. I'm sure it will happen.

However, I also suspect it doesn't matter that much. Pump $10 of 91 until you find a station with 93 then fill the tank back up.

Birdie is right, last map chosen is the one you boot up with.

Anti theft mode I believe kills the fuel pump so the car will not start until you switch it out of that map.makes it a bit harder to hot wire the vehicle.

I guess worst case scenario would be to buy a octane booster to run when you cant make it to a 93 pump . Not sure how well that stuff works. 91 should be fine as long as you dont drive it aggressively, I would still contact your tuner before anything else.

So, ask Moncef, but I'm pretty sure 93 tune can be 91/93. The tune very well could be for 93 only but some tuners have that safety net in the event you get a diluted tank. Figure, the guy before you at the pump gets 89; you fill with 93. There's still some 89 in the hose that's going to make its way into your tank and dilute the 93 that eventually makes its way in there.

Tell him to get rid of the anti theft map 4 and replace it with 91 octane map. I went with Martin and I have a map for my stock tune just in case I can’t get 93.
