Dyno/ tune

So I finally got my headers, HFC and motor mounts installed. Had Admintuning hook me up. Got another 10whp .. Now I'm at 328/266tq.

What were your mods before the Admin tune? Did you originally have the car tuned, add more mods, then re-tune?

Nice! So you're basically maxed out on Bolt-ons outside of a ported intake Manifold, if you even wanted to go that route.

What do you have planned next?

Did you use the same dyno for the two tests?

Yes I'm a bit disappointed in the numbers because in October it was hot here and yesterday it was 60. Plus I've seen Moncef get 15-20whp with just the header. He told me the CBE was holding me back from about 10 more hp but I'm not doing that. I like the sound of my Stillen . The butt-do yno is pretty good though. Even there numbers aren't awesome, I have faded all the drivetrain losses with Bolt one!

I'm skeptical that an increase in pipe size by <.20mm would make a 10-15 HP difference.

It's probably muffler construction/constriction than pipe diameter.

It's definitely the catback contributing to the lower gain. For the highest gains with FBO with the Z1 headers, you will probably see some of the highest gains with Tomei or ISR exhaust.

Wouldn't changing the FD alter your dyno numbers as well? Are you auto or 6mt? I can't recall which has what final drive.

But still, numbers are strong, bet it feels great.

It's an auto, the fd would not change the hp numbers according to my tuner. But the acceleration is 10% faster with the same hp. Going from 3.3 to 3.7 effectively gives that much more mechanical advantage, so yes it's great! I ran unofficial 0-60 (torque app) of 4.4 consistently. I want to take it soon to the track to lay down a quarter mile. I'm not changing the exhaust now, I've spent a good amount in this thing over there past 6 months so I'm not replacing that now.

Could someone verify that?

Chuckie's dyno'd lower after he changed gears (see thread below). Maybe because he went with 4.08's? I don't know enough about differentials, gearing, and all that to really speak on it confidently.

That's a great 0-60 time!

I hear you on the exhaust. I've spent a lot on my Motordyne ART pipes and catback and now I'm being told by Moncef (AdminTuning) that they don't flow the best for making the most power. I'll sacrifice a little power for the sound of Motordyne any day. Plus Calg37USMC made great power (342/274) with his Motordyne headers and catback.

Yeah I did, I posted it on AdminTuning's IG I think.

I'm a little skeptical. I've heard that Z1's dyno readers higher than others, either way it's a strong car.

That's the thing about dynos, don't use them for absolute values. Use them to measure changes. Using one dyno to measure baseline and another to measure a change is pointless as dyno measurement methods can differ, not to mention you have to make sure the operator entered the proper meteorological data before starting.
