UpRev Tuned

Hi people,

I just got my car UpRev tuned by a workshop. I'm just wondering why are my numbers so low ? I have short ram intakes, HFC's, cat-back exhaust, new spark plugs, Splitfire SDIS coilpacks and Stillen grounding kit.

A friend who also has the exact same car as mine with just cold air intakes made 210WHP before and 260WHP after the tune.

Anyone have any ideas why ?

Thanks !

P.S Car is a 2007 Infiniti G35S Sedan (RWD VQ35HR)

Because it's an inertia based dyno and they "read low" compared to other types of dynos. The peak number doesn't really matter anyway, you want to look at the delta. The amount of power you picked up from the original line is great.

How many types or kinds of dyno are there ? At the end, the tuner managed to get 242.5HP. I never had any of my previous cars tuned before, which line is the torque reading ? Or is it the same line as the power reading ?

I only have experience with two:

Mustang dyno (reads lower)

Dynojet (highest reading of all dynos if I recall correctly)

The exact numbers also depend on conditions and calibration, so not all Dynojets read the same, as well as not all mustang dynos read the same.

No need to worry about your low HP/TQ numbers. Just the before and after curves and powerband.

i only picked up about 10hp before and after the tune, full boltons. The car is just more responsive and pulls way harder on the highway at speed. i just got the improved midpipe, so i may go back when it gets a bit cooler outside and get it retuned.

I just dont believe this at all. Regardless of the actual number, there is no way you gained over 50whp with those mods and tune.

Why not? My gains should be somewhat over 50whp.

I still have to confirm with my baseline dynojet, since I tuned at a mustang dyno.

Because Ive worked in the tuner industry and on the VQ motors. I been around UpRev tuning on Z's and G's.

That's very cool. What is the average HP/TQ improvement that you usually see in the VQ37's after bolt ons and tune?

15-20whp Max. If you want more than that, you are looking at forced induction.

I was also just made aware that the baseline numbers on his chart were cut short.

Haha that's because I have a JDM Skyline, so it hit the speed limiter (180km/h) at around 5,500rpm. He has removed it and at the end, he managed to get 242.5HP.
