Review TWM Short Throw Shifter (STS) and Z1 Transmission Mount
Assuming 1/2" of thread contact is adequate, if I take a 30mm M10-1.25 coupling nut, and weld a threaded M10-1.25 post into the middle, cutting the extension from the nut by another 15mm, then the coupling nut would screw onto the shaft with 15mm of contact, and the **** would screw onto the extension with 15mm of contact... making the **** 30mm higher than otherwise.
You could cut the head off a M10 bolt with a hacksaw, apply some loctite red to the threads and screw it into the M10 coupling. After the loctite red dries, it will be impossible to separate the two with out a torch.

Chris at LatheWerks is still talking to me about this project. I think we might be able to get something going here.

OK, here's the skinny: LatheWerks is to custom cut a stainless steel adapter as a 3/4" extension of m10-1.25 threads with a 1" tall base with inner threads of the same, in 0.625" diameter.
Crossing my fingers on this one. More later after it shows up.

Just got this installed and figured I'd throw in my two cents here. WOW. Just WOOOWWWW. I was expecting a difference, but this is ridiculous. For the past few months I've been feeling like something was missing from my car, and couldn't pin point it. I considered doing something to the exhaust, HFC's, anything to get more "oomph" out of the car. This was it. Simple.
I'd write more but I'm gonna go drive for no reason. Lol.

Anyone know what that sound is when the clutch is disengaged? It was there before, but with this mount it's worse (louder). Push the clutch in, it goes away and everything just purrs. This is my only gripe so far...
glad to hear it's normal. and yes perfect description. I've noticed after a few weeks now everything is more pronounced. somethings make me nervous, others make me smile.
I tried capturing it on video. it doesn't come through nearly as well as it feels.

I considered taking an in-cabin video, but don't have a before/after perspective. And since the effect is a combination of audible and tactile perception, a video just wouldn't do it justice.
Other than the transmission's connection to the engine, the point-of-contact for stability between the transmission and the body of the car is this single mount. By reducing the damping effect of that mount, more vibrations are being transmitted through the frame of the car, resulting in a whole new tonal quality that ebbs and flows with the engine. I suspect this is something better appreciated in the 6MT than the Journey, but would love for a Journey owner to install this and report back.
I got to say, it's freaking intoxicating.
The word "growl" is the best way to describe it. The closest analogy would be getting an aftermarket exhaust.

That's really funny, and so true. The first few days I had it I would go home after work, then find reasons to go out to the store again 2-3 more times that day.
and even 3+ weeks after install, I still only play music when on freeway speeds and I can't hear the growl.
