Hyper Moves to Shows
Hyper Moves to Shows
I would like some input by those who have quality show cars on our forums. By now you have all seen my G in pics or in person and I would like to open it up to suggestions, comments, concerns about my G to make it worthy of a show appearance, to try and at least give it some local street cred and maybe to even get a little money back on the ridiculous investment I am starting to accumulate. But , any suggestions from those who have already done it, on breaking into the worls of show would be great.
Thanks,
Dave

I just got the DD dash and a Pioneer N.....1 whatever that DD unit is. I put that beast in yesterday and I am going JL Audio 1 channel 600 watt amp powering a Kicker Square 12 and a JL audio 4 channel 400 watt amp powering Infinity components with TV tuner, reverse camera, XM etc.......But outside of the audio stuff what are we looking at......

Also, just my 2 cents/humble opinion..you should still go to the import shows...lord knows that I'm nowhere close to what any of you guys have in your G's but I still go...2 reasons...1. half of the people have to put so much crap in to make it worth close to a "G" 2. Support the club..the more G's that show the better rep. the club will have...

I agree and I think the unique features on my car as it stands right now is that the car is simple. I think simple, if done correctly can be unique in it's own right. The wheels, simple (not cheap) but clean, simple, complimenting the lines of the car. The car makes tons of power but the outside is simple, the engine bay is simple only the necessary parts are changed. The stereo install is centered around simple as well. All of the monitors and control units will be neatly tucked away in the glovebox and the stock dvd area. I will just have to see how it turns out to determine what else it needs. I would like to finish the modifications that I have planned by Grubbs and Car Toys and then bring it to a meet in it's "show ready" form and then get some first impressions from you guys to see what needs to change. I mean your peers are you best critics.
To me it's is all about enjoying the car. I have a lot of friends in the show scene and they pour gobbles of cash into their cars and when they compete.....nothing. Next show nothing..and so on. They do it to "win" at shows and they rarely drive their cars. If you are going to invest more money into the car, do enjoy it and don't regret it because if you do it just for shows to be unique like those drastic ones just to win trophies and never drive it....then don't do it.
P.S. Even though our fearless leader sounds like the people I am talking about above. HE DOES ENJOY AND DRIVE HIS CAR!

Yeah having a show car is A LOT of hard work, and you hardly ever recoupe the costs of building the car. It's all about enjoying the culture, and deriving satisfaction from your hard work involved in building the car.
You need to just come hang out with us. We all share our ideas & opinions, and have a good time just hanging out. I'm with you on being simple. I've done some stuff to my car, but I'm no where near being done with it. I like to see what people are doing w/ their cars, & where they plan on going w/ it. We have some really cool people in our club. They even let us girls hang out with them!!!!
That is the best thing to say Two and Moog. You guys hit the nail on the head. And because i enjoy my car and am trying for a certain look I am willing to sacrifice a few show points here and there to make the car into something that I want and that I will be proud of. I love the car and I am trying to make it a whole package....And if I can turn some heads at a show all the better, but if the decision is between winning a show and putting on a huge obnoxious front bumper then I'll just have to lose the show and maintain the look I have set out to accomplish from the beginning. Classy, simple, powerful, and the like. But I would just kill myself if I didn't at least give my car a shot at a show. I mean there are probably a lot of cars who would win a show but don't enter because they are afraid of losing or maybe feel like they haven't done enough to deserve to be in one or whatever the case. But I just don't want to be one of those guys who drives around with a car that has so much time and money in it and be wondering "what if." I want to eliminate what if and know for sure how my car will compete with others. And at the end of the day....the work being done is going to be in a tasteful manner that I won't sacrifice any of it's daily drivability and I can at least impress my buddies or maybe even a chick or two. But I think I still have the right mentality going into the project and that is doing this stuff for myself and not to impress anyone else. If anyone else thinks its cool all the better. If a few judges think it's good enough to win something than thats cool too. But at the end of the day I'm the one who has to be in the car every day so I might as well be proud of what I am driving.
Sorry that was so Damn long I got carried away.

I have to admit there is a defiante sense of satisfaction knowing someone off the street went out of their way to tell you they like your ride. To have that kind of affect on people with your ride is hard to do but oh so satisfying when it happens.
