One thing that I should say is a winning show car does not equal the amount of $$ spent on it. It's really about how well the owner has brought existing mods together to form a nice complete package. I used to be into the show scene back in 97-00, and I won a few shows in Ennis. Just keep the car clean and how you like it. Trust me, our cars are head turners STOCK.

I think you should get at least an aftermarket front lip (Gialla or KDV) and a Gialla grill. That would set it off very nicely.

I saw that grille today online and DAMN!!!!!!! That thing is more expensive than front bumpers. My goodness $600 for a friggin grille. I might have a shop make me one custom for half that. That was the most ridiculous G35 mod i have ever seen. But I am going to go with a front lip, but certainly not a front bumper. I will have to shop around on those , but I am still hung up over that friggin grille......"Good Lord that's a lot of money!"

Melissa, I think they are actually saying how good you look next to the car
P.S. I want to see your setup!

So Hyper, don't stand next to it...stand away and let the birds come and flock to it. That's what I do. I love it when people I don't know are gawking at my car on/off the road and while I'm driving

Yeah that siliviaparts.com grille is far more fairly priced. I mean can anyone feel me that $600 for a grille is ridiculous? I am hoping for the same effect Two. I hope everything will start coming together and that will happen more and more.

Hey Hyper good luck on the show circuit,Your friends have given you some good advice. You do need to go to the shows to see what is out there, you don't have to show your car yet,but just attend. You may not find alot of G's at shows yet,but you can still get good ideas from any car.You have done a lot to make your car go fast, but at a car show how fast it goes doesn't matter much,It's a show, not a drag race.Just do a lot of little details to make what you have done, stand out.As far as body mods, you need to do something. That is a main catagory on any score sheet.Clean and simple anybody can do that, you need to stand out.Sure a G will stand out a show, but it is what you have done to the car to make it different.Keeping the car clean is very important,That means everything!!!! the body, wheels, interior, trunk, engine, and even the suspension(back side of wheels, brakes, etc.) Try to get a score sheet at a local show and study the areas they check on and try to do something in every catagory,it's not how many, but the quality. I do believe NCCA has a website with good info, they are the one's who judge Hot Import Nights. Sorry for the long reply, hope this helps everybody.

I checked the past threads on the quality of the replica grilles and everyone seems to like them pretty good. I think I ran across 2 complaints several times.

The first was that they stopped painting the grilles to match the car. From what I also read is that they have now started to paint them again so that's no big deal.

The second is that everyone has said that there is a fitment issue. They never say it is a bad fitment issue (which I am skeptical as to how bad). But most say the holes for the screws are too small and don't exactly line up to the stock fitment areas so pretty much everyone has had to use a drill to expand the holes to fit the stock screw locations.

I haven't heard much else.

But , any suggestions from those who have already done it, on breaking into the worls of show would be great.
First and foremost don't go over to the dark side ........ speed is the drug of choice not vanity LOL. I show the wifes and now my older 100% stock Z and have just as much fun without the tremendous investment. Do what you like and not what you think others would like. If you want to get your investment back then forget it as far as shows ...... trophies don't pay the house payment. You can however contact different vendors and tell them you are showing their product at this and that show and they will give you free stuff to get their product out to the public. With a little effort you can even become sponsored by some.

If you have time, you can come to the SEMA show in Vegas with me this November and meet a lot of vendors looking for exposure.
