Diagnostics Besides the Dealer?

Our G is acting up:

It takes about 2-3 seconds to start up (similar to having a weak battery).
About three times it has kinda shuttered/hesitated for a split second while driving on the highway.
Once it completely died when my wife pushed the clutch to downshift into a corner.
And the big main symptom - the VDC, Slip and Service Engine light came on.
Do I have any choices locally where I can take the car to get diagnosed besides the dealer?

Better yet, has anybody here locally had this happen to them? I've read a few posts on the Coupe board but didn't really see any real helpful info other than it had to probably do with the throttle body.

I have a local mechanic that can do the diagnostic at no charge. He's located in Irving. PM me if you want more inormation. Also, recently my car was jerking when I was accelerating and then all of a sudden all of my lights came on. I thought it was the throttle body but it was later discovered that it was the MAF sensor gone bad. Good luck and keep us updated.

Andy, thanks for your offer. I've PM'ed you my info.

Today I figured I'd go ahead and change the plugs (damn, what a PITA) and checked for loose hoses while I had the cover off and found nothing out of place. I kinda hoped maybe it was the plugs, but of course it wasn't. I took her for a test drive with new plugs and the lights came back on and she died on me at a stop light. From what you said, I may have the same problem with the MAF sensor.

Check to see if you don't have any moisture in the MAF also...I'm thinking that's what is causing it. I've noticed that after a couple of heavy rains I've had the exact same issues and then it clears it when it's dry...damnnn those G gremlins...

Damn hi-tech cars. Apparently there's a bunch of things that can set those lights off. In our case it ended up being the crank sensor.
Andy, thanks for the contact. Got the car looked at during lunch today and found out it's gonna be a $250 fix. Guess it could be worse. But I'm curious as to why the crank sensor would go out. I mean, are there more sensors that will be going out as well? I guess it just frustrates me, since I've only owned Hondas and put 250K and 320K on two of them without any issues like this.

At least it wasn't the MAF sensor. Mucho dinero. Thanks for the update.
