Ok DFW brothers, help me make a choice!
If I'm going to spend $1000-$1500 to upgrade my car, what should I do?
Crawford headers or HKS Exhaust (by the way, I've never heard it in person)?
Thanks,
Jeff

It really depends on what you are looking to get for your money ... more power, nicer sound, nicer looks, etc...
In my opinion headers are a waste of money for the VQ naturally aspirated. You are going to spend $800+ just for the headers plus installation is a b!tch and you will only end up netting 2 - 3hp from what I've seen. The sound difference will be negligable also. I haven't seen too many before/after header dyno's from impartial parties that have shown any significant gains.
You already have the Motordyne spacer which would have been my first suggestion anyways. You already have a good exhaust with high flow cats although the HKS exhaust ($1200?) is pretty nice, like Shawn said if you could sell your Borla it would make more sense to get the HKS.
You are pretty much at the limit of performance upgrades without taking the next step to FI which would take you WELL beyond the $1500 range. You could always go for looks and/or suspension with lowering springs or coilovers, different bumpers, side skirts, etc.
*edit* you could also go with some upgraded cams which would make a much bigger difference than headers would for performance...

I'm thinking you should get the exhaust. After having the Borla for a year, I feel that it is too "muscle-car-like". You know how when a 350Z, G35, FX35, drives by you know it is one of those without looking. I feel like I've lost that "zing" sound with the Borla. The stock exhaust was more exotic sounding. Maybe you could consider one of those new Intimitator exhausts, or maybe a Greddy EVO2.
I almost wish we could have an "exhaust" meet where we can compare sounds in person and the amount of in-cabin noise on the highway and in the city.
