2017 Q60 steering wheel and shift **** on 2008 G37 coupe

Hey does anyone know if it is possible to switch the new q60 steering wheel and shift **** to the old G37, they are somewhat the same car so I don't see why not and people have switched over the gt-r and maxima shift *****, and people have switched over the Z steering wheel to the G so does anyone think this mod is possible, im wanting to give my car a little "update" and I think this mod would be awesome, however I know on the new steering wheel there are some new buttons for functions that arent on the old g37, so if i install the new steering wheel will those buttons just not work and just be a "prop" or will that affect the functionality of all the other buttons (volume, phone, etc). I'll post some pics so you can see what im talking about.

I know It’s kind of an old thread but this subject is still ongoing. I’m not sure about the steering wheel but you can definitely swap out the boot

Here you go.
and shift **** from the new Q60 to the G37. It will need some modification but it can be done I did it on mine.

Yes it is a old thread brought back from the dead. But for the sake of those searching:

I swapped out the steering wheel last year:

See posts 1605-1607 Q60 Steering Wheel

So, yes, it can be done. And it works 99.9%.

For this wheel, 100% plug-and-play.

The only button that does not work as intended on the Q60 wheel is the "BACK" button. This button operates as the "SOURCE" button on the G37. Aside from that all the other buttons work fine except the two "MENU" buttons which do nothing when pressed.

Keep in mind there are two different versions of the Q60 wheel. Red Sport and Tech Package wheels ARE NOT PLUG AND PLAY! Also, remember that that G37 airbag will not work on a Q60 wheel as well.

It is just a matter of checking the resistance values of the ICC button(s). The main difference between the two wheels are the connectors. The G37 uses a 8-pin connector (that plugs into the clockspring) whereas the Red Sport and Tech package wheels use a 16-pin connector.

Edit: just checked the two FSM's and the Q60 ICC button(s) likely will NOT work on the G37 ICC system. On the Q, the ICC is integrated with DAS, and the signal values are slightly different.

Q60 Wheel Swap

I’m trying to do this swap. I found a Q60 wheel on eBay with the small black paddle shifters mounted. So if it is from a tech package or red sport it will not work? It doesn’t have extra buttons for adaptive cruise so I believe it’s not a tech package. I’m not sure how to tell if it is from a red sport or not. I have seen Q60/50 wheels with slightly larger silver paddles. Do you know anything about those? My G already has paddle shifters so if I keep the steering wheel mounted ones I would just need the steering column trim from a base model G with no paddles right? Which wheels have the heat function? Any help is greatly appreciated.

As I keep getting asked about my Q60 steering wheel swap I figured I would post the following to allay future questions. So, for those reading this thread in the future:

There are three (3), yes, THREE (3) different steering wheels that Infiniti used for the Q60/50 (C/V37) cars.
Base/ Non-Tech:

Tech (w/ steering wheel mounted paddles, and w/ or w/out heater):

Red Sport (Tech pkg., larger paddles, DAS wheel switches, heater, and red stitching):

There are major differences in the wiring between the Tech/ Red Sport wheels and the Base/ non-tech wheel. The key difference is the wiring connector. The Base/ non-Tech wheel uses a gray, 8-pin connector to plug into the clockspring:

The 8-pin gray connector is what makes this a direct fit for the G37 clockspring.

The other two wheels use a 12-pin for the switches, paddles, and DAS, and, if heated, a separate 2-pin for the heater that plug into the clockspring:

Because of this white 12-pin connector, it is not compatible with the stock G37 clockspring.

ONLY THE BASE/ NON-TECH wheel is "plug-and-play" compatible with the G37. This wheel will bolt right on, the switches will plug into the clockspring, and you retain your existing paddles.

IF YOUR CAR HAS THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THIS SWAP WILL WORK WITH THAT FUNCTION AS THE STEERING WHEEL SWITCHES MAY BE DIFFERENT INTERNALLY!

In order to use any of the other two wheels extensive re-wiring has to be done to the car side harnesses at the clockspring. You will also need, at a minimum, a different clockspring (the G37 unit not contain the required number of circuits on the ribbon cable nor the larger heater circuits), remove the G37's column mounted paddles and move those wires to the clockspring (car-side) connectors, and, if you want the heat, adding in a dedicated, switched relay circuit.

The Tech/ Red Sport wheel swap can be done and function 100%, however, THIS IS NOT A SIMPLE JOB. It took me hours of researching, verification, circuit tracing, and other tasks before I jumped into battle. Initially I installed the base wheel (post) as it was the easiest at the time. I knew I wanted/ had to have the heated portion (my hands begged me) which made me swap to the Tech wheel (post). I currently have the Red Sport wheel to put on, eventually. In hindsight, I probably could have skipped wiring the paddles in as I never use the damn things anyway (not even on my BMW's DCT) but as they came with the heated wheel - which I desperately wanted- I went ahead and wired them in. My OCD would never have let me gotten away with it anyway.

If you want a basic upgrade to the dated G37 wheel, and want "plug-and-play" ease, just stick to the Base/Non-tech wheel. If you want the added features it is a lot more involved.

Due to the complexity of the systems involved, anyone who does this swap is doing so AT YOUR OWN RISK. I can offer limited guidance but I will NOT provide a step-by-step/ DIY/ parts list guide due to liability reasons.

Be glad this is Nissan/ Infiniti. The same project on my Zed/4 is enough to take a sledge hammer to the damn thing. But, that's BMW for you and my hands just need it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Read the post above this and let me know which wheel you bought from eBay.
