2010-12 Non Navigation With Bose to Navigation With Bose

This not an easy DIY so I recommend reading the instructions from start to finish and make sure you have EVERYTHING you need before you start. This took me about 12 hours broken up into 3 days.

Thanks again to mystikal for letting us know this was possible in the first place.

A little extra info on the stuff I used for compatibility purposes in case anyone wants to know:
  • My car is a 2012 G37X
  • Navigation head unit, screen, controls, trims from a 2011 G37
  • GPS Antenna from a 2008 G37
  • Dash Wiring Harness from a 2010 G37X with Bose and Navigation
Any questions let me know, I'll do my best to answer them. I should also mention that changing the steering wheel is an option not a requirement. The standard steering wheel works fine you just don't have an enter button and back button, the rest all work fine. For those two buttons I just use the ones on the center controls below the screen.

Mod's please let me know how to post this PDF, it is 907KB is there any way i can get this on here? max size says 244KB

Before we figure out how to get it on here, if you want the document sooner please send me a PM with an e-mail address and i'll send it.

Here are the first 5 pages, more to come (scroll down to my next post), 16 in total

Thanks,
George

yeah i really didn't like how tight it was when i was done, since i have a spare cable i'm going to run a new wire directly from the head unit to the port in the arm rest, just need to take it apart a bit, going to wait until it gets warmer

scrap yard doner car would be your best bet, otherwise ebay, though you'll need to be patient, every once and a while you'll see one on there for a good deal. i invested a little shy of $850 to do this, i've been selling some of the old non nav extra items, i'm hoping to end up less than $500 when everything is said and done. so far i've sold $135 worth and i haven't sold any of the bigger priced items yet so i'm sure i'll beat the 500 mark and will end up closer to 300-400

I've got 9,000,000 questions...

Has anyone else successfully done this?

Will this allow me to stream audio via bluetooth (iPhone, pandora, ect...)?

It is down to this or the prodigy system, which doesn't integrate in with the audio system, but would allow me to add in the radar system. This would cost me $1600 installed. This option is obviously more expensive... Which system would you go with?

Thanks and sorry for all of the questions!

Yes you can stream audio via Bluetooth. Not sure when was the first year that allowed it but I can tell you that 2011-2013 do.

mystikal was the first to do it, I believe I was the second. Not sure who else has tried this particular upgrade.

Don't know much about the prodigy system so I don't know what to recommend. This ended up costing about 300 after I sold my old stuff that I removed...even though I can still sell the old xm tuner and telephone adapter unit...so maybe closer to 200

Yeah, youre right. I didnt do a full non to nav conversion. It was from a 2008 navi to a 2010 navi.
