How to Replace Cabin Filter and Glove Box Bulb

Hey guys. It just stopped raining, so I decided to do my DIY on how to replace the cabin filter and glove box bulb.

1. Open the glove box.

2. Pull glove box up.

3. Remove damper pin located on the left side of the glove box.

4. Push right side of the glove box up and left side down.

5. Next you will need to remove the bottom cover.

6. Next, you will have to remove the right side panel.

7. After the covers are off, unscrew the seven screws circled in red.

8. After taking off all the screws, pull lower assist panel off.

9. Replace glove box bulb with .5 Watt bulb or LED. Simply plug n play.

(make sure to have the LED in the correct +/- side. Before putting everything back, check if the LED turns on when the car is on. The glove box light only turns on when the car senses that it is dark [in auto], so make sure you switch the lights to all on rather than auto.)

10. Remove air filter cover and replace cabin air filter. (I decided to switch to a carbon filter)

11. Now reverse all the steps and your done!

JUST FINISHED!! Aww, it started raining again :[

Great DIY. Why did you change to the carbon filter?

The activated charcoal provides additional filtration against objectionable outside odors and pollutants such as hydrocarbons, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and ozone.

About time someone steps up with a quality DIY post. The tricky part for me is always putting the glovebox back in with that retraction system. I nailed in about 3 seconds one time and another time it took me about 10 minutes to get it right.

The carbon filter will filter better. Better for some people with bad allergies. Some argue it will take some smell out of the incoming air too.

Great write up thanks!

Do the filters only work when the air is circulating?

Whenever the air is flowing through the filter, it is being used. That will include both when the vents for the ac are closed or when they are open. I personally leave my ac vents closed at all times. But that's just me.
