I actually did mine last week. I dont know if this is the correct way or not though. (Sorry I didnt take pics)

1. I removed my wheel
2. Taped off an area around the nic with blue paints tape
3. Wrapped the whole wheel in a garbage bag
4. Cut out an area around the nic, taped the hole down with same tape
5. Lightly sanded the whole area with a 500 grit sanding block
6. Sprayed 3 coats of flat black Krylon from Target
7. Let it dry for about 3 hours
8. Reinstalled wheel

You could see the square that I repainted, but after 2 days it is perfect again. I just washed my car and it is impossible to tell where on the wheel I painted.

Was your nick in such a place that it made it easier to take if off? Just curious why you took wheel off? Thanks.

Mine was on the lip. I took it off so I could spray it in a garage, not risk contaminants and because I didn't want over spray getting near my car.

Honestly it is just easier with my wheel up on a work bench rather than on the car

My scratches were really minor and only 3, a few millimeter one and then a couple specs for a years worth of driving. I think matte black or even glossy black is probably one of the easiest color finishes to maintain. I went with it because polished is pretty common and by default it creates a more agressive look. An all black wheel however is a bit boring to me, you need some contrast like Whosurbuddie did with painted wheel caps or the phantoms do with formula silver spokes and diamond cut centers.

What about touching up a silver polished wheel? Also Ive got a few spots with light curb rash on them and there's nowhere in town that does wheel repair. Anybody know of a DIY for removing curb rash?
