However, if your window is tinted dark enough in back, there's really no need to remove it since it can't be seen from the outside. I left mine in and simply disconnected the third brake light for the window after installing the OEM spoiler. The connector for the third brake light in the window is a brown connector located towards the middle portion of the trunk where the trunk lid meets the body. Simply remove three of the molding clips from the top of the trunk. You'll see a wire with a brown connector running up towards the brake light through a round opening with foam. A good way to make sure you're disconnecting the correct wire is to have someone step on your brake while disconnecting the wire to make sure you got the right one.

 

yeah that is what I did. My back tint is pretty dark so you really don't see the brake light anyway. The other downside to swapping in the rear deck w/o brake light is my tint is cut around the brake light, so then I would have to get that redone as well. too much trouble. Would rather spend that money on some HP :-)

Yes, 2 holes on both sides.

 

Hmm... I'm not a mechanic nor do I have any knowledge of drilling -- do you think a noob like me would be able to install it if I have the proper tools?

 

Well when you buy the kit, It comes with all the instructions and templates and what tools and bits to get, If you've never drilled a hole or screwed into a wall then let the dealership handle it for you, saves you the trouble and risk of making the wrong hole, Please make sure you buy OEM, not the knock-offs they have on ebay.

It's been over one year now since install. It's still rock solid and the paint looks perfect with no fading.

 

Great DIY. Interesting that your light bar is red, mine is white. Red on Red and white on white would probably look better, I wonder if they just changed the bar to be red for 09's.
