Car bras
When I was a boy some of my relatives put seat covers over their good living room furniture and then put clear plastic covers on top of the seat covers. It was a ridiculous arrangement that spoiled the beauty of the original furniture. My sense is you’re considering doing the same sort of thing.
Car bras
I'll be getting my bumper repainted soon and I'm considering getting a clear bra put on afterwards as well, because the amount of rock chips I got in 2 years of ownership is ridiculous, and clear bra seems to be a very popular solution to this, but your opinion intrigued me, what's your suggestion BB?
I think Black Betty was referring to this setup~

A clear bra if installed properly should work well and not very noticeable. I tried to DIY a clear bra on mine and it was an epic fail though, definitely leave that to the pros!

Yes. I presumed by car bra you meant something like the one pictured here. A clear bra is a different animal. I had one but it didn't look that good and began to peel and look dull so I removed it. Maybe a better product or installation would have made it better.
Mine was done by a respected "professional". A shop that works primarily on exotics and charges accordingly. Yet the work was still crappy. I've seen other G's whose clear bra looked much better.
I still don't know what Tony76 is asking about. I also assumed it was the snap on bra. If so, I will second Black Beauty's opinion..... DONT DO IT!!!! I had one on my daily driver work car b/c I travel 2 hours on interstate every day and bugs tear up my front end. After 3-4 years, I didn't have any paint missing from bugs..... It was missing where the car bra vibrated in the wind and rubbed my paint off. Plus you have to remove them and scrub them from time to time to remove soaked in mud and road grime in the white cloth fabric underneath. It gets pretty nasty. I wont do snap on car bras anymore!
If its, the clear bra, then everything stated above is on point. I have one on my current daily driver and it was installed by the dealership. It looks great and works great for now. But its only been about 6 months. I hear the start peeling or turning kinda yellowish over time and have to be removed and replaced. The better clear bras are less prone to yellowing or peeling. 3M makes a good one. Just don't get the cheap stuff or you will get the cheap stuff!!

its $100+ (ouch)
it only covers the bumper (no grille or hood)
you cant just put it on and leave it on for months
i take it on and off for long trips only and have never had an issue (bumper and bra must be washed when doing so)
