Washing a car in Florida

Hello all,

In the next few months I'll be moving to Florida. I have a Blue Slate G37 coupe and a Malbec Black M37x. I heard once that the hose water in Florida contains very small particles of sand and that it will swirl the daylights out of your paint.

For those that live in Florida or are knowledgeable on the subject ... first, is that true and second, what can be done to avoid it?

Never heard of that.
We have water treatment plants down here.

We also have stores and restaurants and churches and banks.

The place is largely civilized.

Probably due to the fact that virtually everybody down here came from up there......

One thing you'll learn after moving to Florida, as soon as you wash your car, there's a 100% chance of rain!

Never heard anything like that about the water. Had a Blue Slate G37, washed it at least twice a week, no issues out of the ordinary.

Relax dude, that wasn't meant to be a Florida insult ... remember I just bought a house there! Thanks for the info. I had heard this from my sister in-law who has lived in FL for a long time ... but apparently she's an idiot

That's one of the reasons I bought a home with an over sized, 3 car garage!

Nailed it ^

I've lived in Florida for half my life, never heard of sand in the water. The rainy season truly is a bitch for the reason above ^

I've never heard of sand in water as well. If you're worried you could buy a filtration system like this

CRSpotless Water Systems? Spotless Car Wash De-Ionized Spotless Water

I don't know about sand but the water here has a lot of minerals.

So you will get hard water stains If not dried properly.

Hardcore detailers bring their own r/o water.
