Wash it off, it will be fine. Gasoline evaporates very quickly. It won't damage your paint, just strip off any wax or sealant that's on there. Wash it with any soap or shampoo of your choice.
I'm curious though, WHY is it illegal to have self service gas stations in Jersey? What's the reason for that? Full service is extremely rare in most places and has been for many years.
