APC safe for leather?
APC safe for leather?
Hi guys, i don't have any idea on how to clean my seats or anything leather in my car. But its been months since i got my car, and i wanted to give it a try. I read alot about leatherique and stuff, but i don''t have any access to that right now. What i do have is the meguiar's APC, and a friend of mine told me it should be fine if i use a ration of 1 : 10, is that right?
Can anyone recommend me on how to clean the leather stuff? are meguiar's stuff for leather any good? I read a lot about leather 'drying' up and stuff, and i am really afraid to use he wrong product to clean my seats. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Using APC on leather can be tricky and risky as well. You should be fine with 1:10 dilution but I'd do 1:15 just to be safe and I'm sure your seats aren't too dirty. Just don't let it dry out on the seats.
Use a white terry towel so you can see if you're picking up anything, including the leather dye. Try on an inconspicuous area first. If you don't see any progress at 15:1, going stronger probably won't help.
It depends what the stain is though. Leather is tough, and I haven't found any single do-all cleaner. Another thing to try if the APC doesn't work is denatured alcohol (vodka will work in a pinch), which works pretty well for body oils on light leather. Again you want to try on an inconspicuous area with a white towel (or even a Q-tip) first. If you pick up any of the leather's color, don't use it. Meguiars Quick Interior Detailer/cleaner is another to try.
No matter what cleaner(s) you try, and regardless of whether it works, you want to follow with leather conditioner soon after. You can pick up leather conditioner wipes just about anywhere (even grocery stores in their small automotive section, or home improvement stores like lowes and home depot)
Good luck
Not sure I'd use it...but I don't think it would hurt anything. Just make sure you condition afterwards.
I'd recommend Woolite, cut at least 10:1. Works great, easy on your leather, and smells good. Again though, whatever you used to clean, make sure you condition.

Thanks guys, after all the advices... i think i'll wait a little longer and try to get hold of leatherique.. i think its way safer and i'm a noob about leather cleaning.. so i think imma wait it out till i know what i am doing.. Thanks guys.

I've used APC on leather frequently and never had any ill effects. Just scrub with a terry cloth towel and then condition afterward. Most leather is coated anyway with something similar to clear coat and you are cleaning off the surface of that coating. You can also try the woolite if you feel that APC is too strong and if your leather isn't really that dirty. FOr something at your local auto parts store, the Lexol leather cleaner (i think it is the yellow bottle, and the orange is the conditioner) works pretty well, just be prepared to scrub as it isn't strong at all.
