Dealer carwash nightmare!!!

Not sure if its the right place to post it, so mods feel free to move the thread...

I took my car in for a routine oil&filter change to Infiniti of Manhattan and I did not know what I was getting myself into. I should have listened to not to let them wash the car. After I got the call to come and pick up the car I was a happy camper until I actually saw the car.... I could not believe my eyes!!!!! The car was fully detailed before I dropped it off there and looked like they washed it with a sand paper after!! Every single body panel was scratched... As I spoke with the manager, he was like that they have nothing to do with that and have best carwash in the area(my a**).. He called for a head detailer and the guy was like wtf happened to your car? But after he realized I "blaimed" it on them, he started to deny everything...

The fun part is that the windows looked like they have not even been touched and the car had missed spots with salt and dirt and when I pointed that out, they just took a DRY towel, wiped it out and there you go... After that I just asked them for my keys and left... Did not know what to say to that.

Do not have any pictures, but the car is all buffed out now...Thank you for the New Year's present Infiniti of Manhattan!!!

Just needed to vent, sorry guys lol

Sorry to hear that. The usual dealer detailer experience is of wash and waxing only.

Lesson learned... Never let them touch it again. My dealer knows not to wash mine.

I never go to the dealer anyways next time put a fat note on the steering wheel that says DO NOT WASH, I hear they wash it even if you tell them not too.

Same here, however I don't go to the dealer any longer. I did have this same thing happen when I first bought my car 3 years ago, I had to hit up the detailed image for a porter cable, polishes, etc. and learn how to polish and detail my car with a porter cable. I was also shocked that the stealership would show such a lack of care when washing my G, it's unreal. When I did used to go to the stealership I always pulled out my sign I made and kept in my glove box "DO NOT WASH THIS CAR!" I would always have my service advisor write it on my work order as well, not just the typed box that says Wash and they type yes or no, I had him write it in large letters right on the invoice/work order "DO NOT WASH"

^ oh **** that was the best... I was just thinking, everyone says "dealership" do you think those guys back there making minimum wage care what they do to our cars? at the end of the day they still get paid.......... I just don't understand how they wash the cars on he lot "before" you buy them, and they seem to look fine, but after "service" they do not look fine....... Next time ask for the guy who washes the cars on the sale lot to wash your car and see what they say

Do yourself a favor. My dealer is pretty good about following my instructions to not wash the car. One time, I took it to them for service right before the 4th of July. Most of their regular staff wasn't there and it appeared to me that they were in a bit of a "party mode" before the holiday. Needless to say, they went ahead and washed the car even though I explicitly told them not to. The good news is they didn't do any damage, but from that point on, I keep a sign in all the my cars that reads: PLEASE DO NOT WASH THE CAR.

May seem a little redundant but it avoids misunderstandings.

reason #34 not to go to the dealer. if you must go to the dealer (for warranty/recall work only), do as others suggest: demand that "no wash" is on the invoice, and place a clear note inside the vehicle.
