Trunk Dust, anybody else??

Hey guys, new to forum with my new G37. A previous TL owner, man did Acura sure Ugle up the TL.

My question, when I open the trunk, the top of bumper under the lid is covered with black dust. I assume it's from the rubber trim rubbing together.

anybody else having this issue and is there something that can be apply to the trim to prevent?

Thanks...

Nope, never even heard of this issue. Your trunk shouldn't be loose though, how would the rubber trim even rub to produce the dust? Does it come back after you clean it? Maybe the dust is from those recesses where the lid struts are when you open up the trunk, and they flowed down grooves?

The area below the trunk lid is quick to pick up dust and dirt on my vert. I dunno why this is.

Yes, it does return after a wash. I'm just guessing on where the dust is coming from (looks dust like brake dust). But when I open the trunk, it's there on the top of the bumper. And after a good rain this week, the back part of the bummer was black and I think it was because the rain water washer the dust down on the back of the bumper.

I will be taking the car in for a 1.5K checkout and oil change. I will ask the dealer was is up...

But besides that, loving the G... So if this is all I have to worry about, what a car..

are you talking about the dirt that collects on the rear after a drive? I've never seen a car that did not do that. i never figured out the physics behind it

The trunk when closed covers the top part of the bumper. When I opened the trunk, I see this black dust along the top of the bumper which is covered by the trunk when it is closed.

That is where the rubber seal is when you close the trunk. My best guess is there is friction here casuing the dust build up, just like brake dust.

So now when I open the trunk when the car is clean, I just whip off the dust that builds up. But when it rains, the water coming into that area and the part part of the car now looks dirter than the rest because it's washing this dust down the back.

Hadn't seen this in any previous cars I have owned. See what the dealer says when I take it in for my 1.5K oil change.
